These terms of use apply to all journeys regardless of the sales channel.
Passenger Categories
The following age categories apply regardless of whether a discounted ticket option is offered or not.
Children 0-6 years:
This category includes children up to the day before their 7th birthday. A maximum of two children under 7 years old travel for free with a paying companion. Additional children, as well as unaccompanied children under 7, must purchase a child ticket (7-19 years). For groups of children, such as a preschool group, all must purchase a ticket.
Children 7-19 years:
This category applies to children and young people from the day they turn 7 until the day before their 20th birthday.
Youth 20-25 years:
This category applies to young people from the day they turn 20 until the day before their 26th birthday.
Adult 26-64 years:
This category applies to individuals from the day they turn 26 until the day before their 65th birthday.
Senior 65+ years:
This category applies to individuals who are 65 years old or older.
To purchase a ticket at an age-related price, you must be able to provide valid identification at the time of purchase and during ticket inspection.
Ticket Validity
A ticket for travel within Skellefteå Local Traffic is valid for the number of trips and within the geographical area specified on the ticket during its validity period. You may take another departure than the one stated on the ticket as long as it is within the validity period. Boarding and transfers must take place within the ticket’s designated geographical area.
To be valid, the ticket must be activated before or upon boarding. A copied ticket, such as a photo or screenshot, is not a valid travel document.
Below are the terms for Skellefteå Local Traffic's most common ticket types offered by Skellefteå Buss, regardless of the sales channel.
During 2024/2025, we are transitioning to a new ticket and payment system. During this period, some ticket purchasing options on the bus may be temporarily unavailable.
SINGLE TICKET - for occasional travelers
A single ticket is valid for one journey on a specified route. The easiest way to buy a single ticket is through the Skellefteå Buss
app, where you receive a digital ticket with a QR code. You get free transfers within one hour across all Skellefteå Local Traffic routes. Transfers are valid for 90 minutes from the first validation on the bus. You can also pay by card directly on the bus; however, no free transfer is included in that case, meaning you must purchase a new ticket for each transfer. To purchase a ticket at an age-related price, you must be able to provide valid ID at the time of purchase and during any ticket inspection.
DISCOUNT TRIP (Discount Card Trip) - for occasional travelers
You can buy 6 or 10 trips at a time. Discount trips can be purchased in the app or at Skellefteå Bus Station. If you want the trips on a bus card, you pay a one-time fee of 25 SEK for the card. You can reload the card with new discount trips via the webshop/My Pages. Discount trips are not personal but are only valid for the age category specified at the time of purchase. To purchase discount trips at an age-related price, you must be able to provide valid ID at the time of purchase and during any ticket inspection. With a discount card, you get free transfers within one hour.
30-DAY PASS - for frequent travelers
The 30-day period ticket is suitable for those who commute to work or school daily. It allows unlimited travel for 30 days within Skellefteå Local Traffic and is also valid on the Skellefteå Airport Bus. The period ticket is not personal but is only valid for the age category specified at the time of purchase. To purchase trips at an age-related price, you must be able to provide valid ID at the time of purchase and during any ticket inspection. The easiest way to buy the period ticket is through our app, where you receive a digital travel pass. You can also purchase it at Skellefteå Bus Station. If you want the trips on a bus card, you pay a one-time fee of 50 SEK for the card. Once the period expires, you can purchase a new 30-day period through the webshop/My Pages or the app. It is always cheapest to buy the ticket before boarding the bus. This speeds up boarding, which other passengers will appreciate!
PERIOD PASS FLEX - for those who travel up to 10 days in a 30-day period
The FLEX period pass is suitable for those who commute to work or school a maximum of 10 days within a 30-day period. It allows unlimited travel on the 10 days you choose within Skellefteå Local Traffic. The FLEX period pass is not personal but is only valid for the age category specified at the time of purchase. To purchase trips at an age-related price, you must be able to provide valid ID at the time of purchase and during any ticket inspection. The FLEX period pass can be purchased in the app, onboard the bus, or at Skellefteå Bus Station. If you want the trips on a bus card, you pay a one-time fee of 50 SEK for the card. Once the period expires, you can purchase a new 30-day period via our webshop/My Pages or in the app.
ANNUAL PASS - for year-round travelers
The annual pass is ideal for those who travel all year round. It can only be purchased through a direct debit agreement for at least 12 months, and the agreement is made with Länstrafiken Västerbotten, who will also send the bus card to you.
VISITOR PASS - 24 or 72 hours
The visitor pass is ideal for those who need to travel multiple times within a limited period, choosing either one or three days. It is easiest to purchase the visitor pass through our app, where you receive a digital travel pass.
Airport Bus Ticket
To travel on the Airport Bus, passengers must purchase an airport bus ticket. This ticket allows free transfers to and from urban traffic within Skellefteå Local Traffic.
HOCKEY BUS TICKET
Passengers traveling on the Hockey Bus must purchase a Hockey Bus ticket. Payment options include:
– Card payment upon boarding the bus.
– Stored value on a bus card (partial payments with stored value are not allowed).
– It is not possible to buy Hockey Bus tickets via the new app.
– Cash is not accepted on buses.
Ticket Inspection
All tickets must be presented upon boarding the bus, whether in the app, printed on paper, or on a plastic card.
If a card or ticket cannot be scanned in the ticket reader, passengers must show a valid ticket to the driver.
Compensation for Delays
If your journey is delayed by 20 minutes or more, you may be entitled to compensation for reasonable costs for alternative transport or a price reduction. Law (2015:953) regulates public transport passengers' rights regarding delay compensation.
